Ningaloo Whaleshark Festival returns to Exmouth

The 2013 Ningaloo Whaleshark Festival will be held in Exmouth from May 24 - 26. The festival will interest all ages with activities including a fun run, a float parade, bands, acrobatic displays, circus and fire show, kid's beach games as well as photo and art exhibitions. Dr Brad Norman will give information on the whale shark and the photo ID program and Gulliver the giant whale shark will be on display. There will also be other visiting scientists and research groups displaying their findings.

To start the festivities, a cocktail party at the Novotel Ningaloo Resort will feature Pimps of Sound accompanied by Milly James. Festivities will continue on Saturday at Talanjee Oval with a fun run, breakfast and activities throughout the day. Artists including Dave Cannon, Dave Mann and other musicians will be performing at the festival. Blue Shaddy will return by popular demand and will have everyone up and dancing at Grace's Tavern on Saturday night.

Sunday is Family Day at Town Beach with plenty of beach games and night time entertainment. Fire juggling, live music and circus shows are all part of the festival program.

The Ningaloo Whaleshark Festival highlights the community's relationship with the annual visit of the whale shark. The World Heritage-listed Ningaloo Reef is a name recognised nationally and internationally as a 'premier marine environment', home to the most predictable, seasonal aggregations of whale sharks in the world. This event is supported by Eventscorp, Department of Regional Development and Lands and Royalties for Regions.

There is the chance to swim with the whale sharks, the biggest fish in the ocean from April - July each year at Ningaloo.
